ニジェールでの手術
形成外科の手術が中心で唇裂、腫瘍、あとは風土病である『ノーマ』という病気です。
ノーマは感染症の一種ですが健康な人にはほとんど影響を及ぼすことはありません。
栄養状態の悪い乳幼児の口腔内に感染し、唇、骨、皮膚を溶かして広がっていきます。
そのため昔は「水癌」と呼ばれていました。
ノーマに感染した子供達の実に９０％以上は亡くなってしまうのですが、
かろうじて生存した場合でも重篤な変形を残してしまいます。
この変形はなかなか一般の手術では治療できず形成外科的な技術を必要とします。
ニジェールは今回で3回目、スタッフの中にも見慣れた顔が笑顔で迎えてくれ
いつもの通りに手術することができました。
アフリカの子供達は泣きわめく事が少ないようです。
それがまた健気で手術の結果を高めたくなります。
一回で終わらない変形なので継続して訪れる必要があります。
来年もいかねば。

初めまして
本日TVで先生のご活躍を拝見しとても感動しました。
そして番組終了後調べたらこちらに辿りつきました。
ニジェールでのボランティア
「ノーマ」という病気にかかってしまった、
子供たちをキレイに治してしまう手術。
先生の行っていることは本当に素晴らしいと思います。
非力ながら何かお役に立てないだろうか…

情熱大陸みました。私にも小さな子供がいます。健康に恵まれ、大変元気な男の子です。御近所にも可愛がられ、すくすく育っています。先生の手術を受けた女の子の手術前の写真を見てとても大きなおめめできっと可愛いはずなのに…と胸を打たれた瞬間、手術後の写真に変わりました。本当に綺麗になって、可愛い可愛いお顔になっていて…目頭が熱くなりました。自分の子供でもないのに感謝の気持ちで一杯になりました。アフリカでのお仕事振り、仕事を終えてまでの先生の思いで患者さんの家庭へ出掛けられたお姿。頼もしかったです。実は私も小さな商売をしておりますが、今を家族と生きることに精一杯です。…が、夢とまで言いませんがやはり先生のようにアフリカで活動なさってくれていると知って嬉しく思いました。それから…４０歳になる私も老化が始まり、美容整形に少しの興味もありましたが…派手な公告やずさんな治療などの情報ばかりで美容整形は後ろめたいとか、悪い事のように感じていました。でも先生の話す姿を見てもしいつか、どうしても治療を受けるとしたら…先生に相談に行こうと思いました。小学生の作文みたいでスミマセン^_^;取り止めの無い内容ですが…感動を頂きましてありがとうございますm(__)m…と伝えたくてＭａｉｌをしてみました。与座先生の探求を惜しまない姿…息子にいつか教えたいです。与座先生の発する声からの思いや心に癒されましたし、私も私なりに私の世界を頑張ろうと元気を頂きました。ありがとうございます。どうぞ、これからも良き理解者で傍らで静かに頑張ってこられたと思います奥様の為にもお元気で頑張って下さい。もし、読んで頂けていたとしたら…貴重なお時間をこんな作文みたいなメールに頂いてしまってスミマセン…ありがとうございました。

情熱大陸で、お仕事の様子を拝見いたしました。実は、以前私も事情があって形成外科の手術を受けたことが有ります。形成外科の手術は、命に関わらない事が多いので、一般に軽く見られがちなことが多いのではと思いますが、私は自分の体験から、「手術が人を救う事が有るのだ」と言う事を身をもって学びました。
お仕事お忙しそうですが、無理をし過ぎないようにお体に気をつけてご活躍下さい。陰ながら応援させていただきます。
